As I go through the posts over this one year, I realised that we’re such similar creatures. We had the same thoughts, the same ideals and the same skeptical views.

That was supposed to be a good thing – knowing someone who gets each other. So why did I get scared?

Complexity in life always freaks me out. I guess the ‘are-we-or-aren’t-we’ were too complex for me to handle.

Sorry, friend.

Here’s mine:

• IN = as in, “Karaoke is so in!” Firstly, “in” was hot in the early 90′s. Secondly, karaoke was never “in”. Though I will admit I love going karaoke.
• HIP = as in, “Aw Ma Gawwd, your top is so hip!”. My response? “Ughh, go away, you twit.” On the same level with “HIP”, is “COOL”. Because everything has been described as “hip” and “cool”, I no longer know what’s “hip” and “cool” anymore.
• UNIQUE = as in, “This design is unique!”. as in, “This performance is so unique and …” Okay, so I’m guilty as charged too. It’s such an easy way out when it comes to describing anything under the sun. But after reading ten descriptions of ten similar tops being unique, the word lost its definition.

I’m always instantaneously reminded of a pair of breasts tilted vertically.

so, in my drunken stupor, i did something i never thought i’d do.

i won’t reveal what it is, but i’m still reveling at it.

(clue: it’s got something to do with a post i wrote recently.)

AND THEN, someone said I’m a perfectionist.

AND SO NOW, I’m curious. Which am I?

AND THEREFORE, I looked up the dictionary and asked for the definitions of these two nouns.

• Idealist: a person who practices the “forming or pursuing ideals, esp. unrealistically“.
• Perfectionist: a person who refuses to “accept any standard short of perfection”.

IF that’s the case, does this mean I’m an idealist-perfectionist, someone who has unrealistically high standards of perfection?

I may still be in my past life when he was at his BIGGEST, but I always remembered his awesome songs that I’ll sing to when the videos were on MTV (those were the days when MTV was awesome). I can safely say that this legend is one of the FEW artistes who have dozens of music that still inspires people till this day. I will not say I was the biggest fan, because I was not from that generation long enough to be too deeply influenced by him.

It struck me today that we never really appreciated and remembered our pasts and our youths, and to only give its due remembrance when something irrevocable happened. We would not start a thread or a ‘trend’ to capture the best moments. What do we do? Instead, there were wanks, unkind remarks and/or silence.

For that very reason, I want to make myself remember this: I LOVE THE 90′s POP, AND I WANT IT BACK SO MUCH. THE JONAS BROS, THE MILEY CYRUS, THE RIHANNA, THE CHRIS BROWN, THE LILY ALLEN AND THE LADY GAGA CAN NEVER COMPARE TO WHAT WE AS TEENAGERS WITNESSED.

To me, the pop music nowadays (even the TV/movies) are replications and followers, while the 90′s pop was about creativity and creations. We no longer have idols and superstars and have been replaced by one-day-they’ll-be-forgotten one hit wonders.

Remember, we had these pop legends:

• Michael Jackson
• Madonna
• Janet Jackson
• TLC
• Spice Girls
• ‘Nsync (sorry, maybe I’m biased, but I was a HUGEEEEE ‘Nsync fan)
• Britney Spears

I was watching this video too, when it really did dawn on me how true and great pop music was. I mean, P. Diddy was still Puff Daddy, Jennifer Lopez was J.Lo/Jenny on the Block, Britney Spears was still hot (still is!) and in her prime and (okay, bias alert) Nsync was still together and putting out creative performances that blew me away time after time. (side note: I hope JC Chasez will cut a new album soon so I can be all fangirl again)

RIP, Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett. You have both played essential roles in our entertainment cultures.

It was about time too. Thanks to Amazon’s reviews, here are the books that I borrowed and read:

Made to Stick by Dan and Chip Heath: A really useful book discussing how to create, explore and refine ideas that will appeal to the audience.
The Hard Truth about Soft Skills by Peggy Klaus: Just finished this two days ago. Really, there’s nothing soft about SOFT skills. Klaus covered the various workplace scenarios and how to react to them appropriately.
Do What You Are by Paul D. Tieger and Barbara Barron-Tieger: The ‘manual’ was created for the readers to discover their perfect careers by discovering their personality types. Generally, the book used the Myer-Briggs type indicator. Going through the book, I had a much much deeper understanding of my personality. As the phrase goes, ‘the light dawns’.

wikipedia defines ad hoc as “for this [purpose]“, which means the word refers to a specific task that cannot be generalised. but people today overuses the word (another overused word is synergy btw), so much so that it now means “miscellaneous things that i have not thought of asking you to do but you gotta do it”.

really, if you just flip through the job classifieds, 95% of the employers will list in “administer other adhoc duties” etc etc.

sorry, Ad Hoc, for abusing you so much.

It’s none other than… (insert drumroll) CRAIGSLIST!

And by craigslist, I mean the personals on it. I get all kinds of curiosity from reading the posts. People looking for LTR, NSA, ONS, affairs – i’ll wonder the mind processes of these people. What triggered them to look for a ‘company’ online? Did they have any mind blocks when they were contemplating?

Is it working??

However, I have a few observations I’ll like to contribute:

1. If you’re going to post an ad – please make sure you are spelling things correctly and your sentences flow. i don’t care if this is the Internet. Believe it or not, humans who speak and spell properly can be quite a turn-on. It shows you’re an intellectual being.

2. People post an ad, but they have such an aloof manner it’s ‘interesting’.

“I’m not going to reply you if you don’t give me your photo.”
“I’m hot, tall, talk well, listen well, good with women/men. So if you are not hot, tall and sexy, don’t bother replying me.”

“If you’re old, I won’t reply you.”

I don’t get it, sometimes, really. If you are good with the human race, why turn to Craigslist?
